Q:What kind of impressions do you have of Japan nowadays compared to Japan during Showa era? / 昭和の日本と比べて、今日の日本にはどんな印象がありますか？

My experience with Showa Era in media (tokusatsu, dramas, documentaries) have always been one of cities, urban settings, and gloomy/cloudy atmosphere. Economic growth and business were always emphasized. Post-Showa era media shared outside Japan for me has been mostly about popular culture, arts, music, and technology.

私がメディア（特撮、ドラマ、ドキュメンタリー等)で観てきた昭和時代は、ほぼ日本のどこかの都会での出来事で、やや陰りのある暗い雰囲気が特徴でした。その中では経済成長や、ビジネスが特に強調されていたように思います。ところが海外で放映された昭和以降の番組では、ほとんどが大衆文化や、芸術、音楽、技術に関するものだったと思います。
